I first noticed my shoulder problems approximately two years ago whilst doing overhead presses at the gym. The problem manifested itself  as a sharp pain in my left shoulder and a disappointing feeling overall weakness. I persevered with this condition thinking that it was a case of doing more resistance training concentrating on the left shoulder to basically “catch up” with the right, and then the problem would resolve itself.

More recently, I started to learn the game of golf. One night at the driving range I noticed a sharp pain in my left shoulder after a drive and this pain increased over the next 24 hours to the point that I could not even lift my arm above elbow height. I decided to act on this and saw an Osteopath and then a couple of different Physiotherapists. After their treatment the problem was not improving and about six months later I had given up the ghost and considered an operation to stabilise the shoulder, by this time I had the sensation of clicking and the ball popping out of the socket in my shoulder at the slightest of things e.g. opening a window on one occasion. Looking at the internet one day on shoulder reconstructions I came across Luke’s (The Shoulder Guy) website. I decided to give it one more go.

On my first visit to Luke I was relieved to learn that an operation was not necessary. Luke immediately located the problem and gave me some simple exercises to build up the Rotator Cuff muscles that were very weak in my left shoulder. I stuck at the exercises and over the following 6 weeks the shoulder improved dramatically.

I am now cured and delighted to say so.

I would also like to add that Luke looked at the overall picture and showed me some very important exercises for core stability, total body exercises and safe shoulder exercises/form that are of great benefit to know. Going forward Luke has equiped me with the knowledge to spot any danger signs and exercises to avoid a reoccurrence of the problem. I highly recommend Luke if you have shoulder issues, my only regret is not finding him sooner.

Luke was recommended to me by my son’s mother in law – we shared our shoulder problems and now share our enthusiasm for Luke’s deep understanding of what makes shoulders work, what can go wrong with them and how to fix it. Hi Luke, just thought that I would give you the personal satisfaction of knowing you were spot on with your advice- I had a CT done while in external rotation and the report was very clear – the screw is abutting the humeral head and limiting external rotation. I think that’ll give the surgeon the confidence he needs to get in there again and take it out.
